where username is your account name.

For example, john@email.arizona.edu or john@u.arizona.edu would become

POP Access
POP is suitable if you are going to use e-mail only from one location, such as your home or office, because all your e-mail activities are performed on your local workstation. Mail is downloaded from the inbox of the e-mail server to your local machine, meaning that it is usually not possible to access the e-mail from another location. This can, however, be bypassed by using the Leave mail on server setting in your e-mail client.

IMAP Access
IMAP is better if you need to access your mail from work and from home, or while traveling.

Your e-mail and folders can reside on the mail server so your e-mail and folders are accessible regardless of which computer you are using. To conserve disk space, it is useful to set a time duration for how long e-mail messages should stay on the server before they are deleted (5-10 days is reasonable), by using the appropriate setting in your e-mail client.
