Thomas R. Brown Distinguished Scholarships

College of Engineering Grants

Remember you are required to have submitted SAT or ACT test scores and an official high school transcript to be considered for scholarships. For need-based scholarships, you must have a Free Application for Student Aid on file with the UA Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid.

 

Engineering Scholar Awards

Eligibility

  • National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists & Finalists
  • National Hispanic Scholars
  • National Achievement Semifinalists & Finalists
  • Flinn Scholar Finalists

Packages

  • National Merit Semifinalist - $1,000 per year
  • National Merit Finalist - $1,000 per year
  • National Achievement Semifinalist and Finalist - $1,000 per year
  • National Hispanic Scholar  - $1,000 per year
  • Flinn Scholar Finalist - $1,000 per year

Application

For consideration, please complete the Engineering Scholarship Application.

Retention

  • Remain in a College academic program with demonstrated academic progress
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher

Thomas R. Brown Distinguished Scholarships

Thomas R. Brown Scholarships are awarded to National Scholar incoming freshmen who display excellence in academic and extracurricular endeavors. This scholarship is made possible by the generosity of the Thomas R. Brown Foundation. Tom Brown, co-founder of Burr-Brown, led Burr-Brown to worldwide prominence in the development, manufacturing and marketing of data conversion and mixed signal integrated circuits. Texas Instruments acquired Burr-Brown in 2000 for an amount that still holds the record for an Arizona-grown entrepreneurial endeavor.

Eligibility

  • National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists & Finalists
  • National Hispanic Scholars
  • National Achievement Semifinalists & Finalists
  • Flinn Finalists

Package

A student selected to receive the Brown Scholarship will be awarded $5,000 per year. This scholarship supersedes the National Scholars $1,000 award and can be renewed for three years.

Application

For consideration, first review the Thomas R. Brown Scholarship Information Sheet, then complete the Thomas R. Brown Distinguished Scholarship Application.

Retention

  • Remain in a College academic program with demonstrated academic progress.
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5. (Scholarship can be renewed at $1,000 if 3.0 to 3.5 GPA is maintained.)

College of Engineering Grants

These one-time grants help cover costs such as tuition and books.

Eligibility

Incoming freshmen and transfer students with demonstrated need

Package

$500 to $1,500 nonrenewable
